Cartridge recognition issues sometimes occur with compatible or genuine Brother toner cartridges. When you install a Brother TN2030 cartridge and the toner counter doesn’t reset, you may wish to try the following procedure.
- Open the front cover and leave open while completing the following steps.
- Turn the printer off.
- Hold the ‘go’ button (or “start’ button) while turning the printer on. Three panel lights should now be on.
- Release the ‘go’ button (or “start’ button).
- Press the ‘go’ button (or “start’ button) twice.
- Pause. All panel lights should be on.
- Press the ‘go’ button (or “start’ button) 5 times. The toner light should be off (the error light may be flashing). The paper light should be on or flashing.
- Close the cover. The ready light should be the only light on.
Note: This procedure has been tested on the HL2130 printer but may work on other printers using the TN2030 toner.
Some users have reported having to turn the printer off and on after resetting the counter.
Thanks . I reset toner and stop blinking yellow light to my 2130. but we can not stop reduce age of drum using this way.
Worked a treat
Thanks
This procedure works like a charm.
The toner status report (press the green “Go” button 3 times) now says the cartridge is full, while before it said the cartridge was about 30% full. The printer monitor in the pc now has stopped its constant panic messages.
Thanks a lot!
The BBC programme “The men who made us spend” calls this fake “toner low” policy “planned obsolescence”: tell the user the cartridge is empty while in fact it still has plenty of toner.
Thanks again!
Nice, thanks for the tip – worked for me!
I rested the toner of my HL 2130. But the yellow lights is still on and the doest not get ready.. It there any other problem in my Printer. If yes please help me through video
Hi Reshi This page might help you http://support.brother.com/g/b/faqend.aspx?c=nz&lang=en&prod=hl2130_all&ftype3=1968&faqid=faq00000170_020 It covers the meanings of the led lights.
Much appreciated thankyou. FYI, the instructions you sent me with my toner cartridge say to press Go 7 times, which didn’t work for me. Now I see it’s only 5 times, which did work! Also, it doesn’t say that I have to turn it off and back on again after resetting the toner, which I did have to do. Glad I found this forum, thankyou.
