If your Brother MFC9440CN belt unit “BU100CL” is still giving you acceptable print quality, you can reset the counter as follows:
- Turn the machine’s power switch on.
- Press the Menu –> Machine Info -> Reset Menu.
- Press the Up or Down Arrow key to choose Belt Unit.
- Press OK.
- Press 1 to reset the belt unit counter.
- Press the Stop/Exit.
- Your Transfer belt counter should now be reset.
Note: Performing this reset doesn’t mean you will be able to carry on printing for ever. At some point the print quality will drop and will then have no choice but to replace the belt or the printer.
This procedure has been tested on the Brother MFC9440CN but should also work on MFC9450cdn and MFC9840CDW.
This did not work on my machine. I found pressing 3 and9 simultaneously brings up the reset hardware options. Arrow to the item you want reset and press OK. Your machine should read 100% life on that part. Good Luck.
Thank you very much, Rob!
I couldn’t reset my machine using the instructions included with the new belt unit and my owner’s manual didn’t have the correct information either.
Thanks Rob! That did the trick!
Thank you!!! The directions given in the manual and replacement part didn’t work but this did the trick!!!!
Appreciate it!
Thanks so much! Pressing 3 and 9 at the same time worked for my printer too. I would never had figured that out XD. The above wouldn’t work for me either.
Hi there. This was helpful – many thanks for your help. Garry
