Brother MFC-L2700DW Toner Counter Reset – TN2345

Cartridge recognition issues sometimes occur with compatible or genuine Brother toner cartridges.

(If your printer model starts with HL and used TN2315 or TN2345 cartridges you’ll need to go here.)

When you install a Brother TN2345 cartridge in your MFC-L2700DW and the toner counter doesn’t reset, you may wish to try the following procedure.

  1.  Open the front cover and leave open while completing the following steps.
  2. Display should read “Front Cover open”.
  3. Hold the ‘OK’  button down for a few seconds.
  4. Display should read “Replace Drum”.
  5. DO NOT follow prompts on screen.
  6. Type in * 0 0 (Star Zero Zero) on the keypad.
  7. Close the cover. Your toner is now reset

Press Menu, 5, 4, then Start Button to print a status page and this will show that the toner has reset back to 100%

Note: This procedure has been tested on the MFC-L2700DW printer.

Your comment seems simple. Which is the ok button. I don’t see ok button on my Mfcl-l2720dw. When I press the home button the display show serial number and drum version. Did not show replace drum. Please help. Thanks

      Hi Lien

Instead of the OK button use the # key (remember to open the front cover first). From there you will have some options for different yield toners. For the TN2345 use TNR-HC or for the TN2315 use TNR-STD-A.
I will do a new guide for the touch screen models soon.

Normally you can make the keyboard light up by going into fax mode before starting the procedure.
You will have to remember where it is from there.

I HAVE A MFC-L2700DW HAS A REPLACE DRUM ERROR I REPLACED THE DRUM AND RESET IT AND IS JUST SPITS OUT BLANK PAGES UNTILL IT EMPTYS THE PAPER TRAY BUT THE FAX WORKS FINE.

      Hi Johnnie

I recommend putting the old drum back in to test if you have a drum fault.
If the charge is broken in a drum unit you will get blank pages.

      Hi Vonnie

The TN660 I think is equivalent to the HC version if I remember right.
In New Zealand we use different codes for our cartridges.

Had install a new drum in my MFC L 2700DW and it worked for about 100 pages, then nothing but blank pages. Seller provided incorrect info. This websie solved the problem in seconds and gave me a print out of printer’s history and serial number and more. THANKS EASYINK

Mfc- l2740dw cannot reset the toner tn-2355, reset process requires either go button or # button off which they both appear inactive

Thank you , Thank you, Thank you! You used to be able to fool it by covering certain openings with tape. they stopped that. I saw another technique that required some disassembly of the toner cartridge. Too hard and messy. YOUR METHOD WORKED!

    Hello:
My L2740DW has a touchscreen and your tips above do not apply. Do you have a solution for the newer versions of this printer?

  7. Nev says:

Life Saver! Have to go and submit some financials tomorrow and I couldn’t print anything. Followed your instructions and up and running. Thank you so much

Was in the middle of printing a 90 page document. When 1/3 of the way through I got the dreaded need to replace toner error. This method worked perfectly on my MFC-L2700DW. I ordered a new toner cartridge but that is 2 days away. This saved me for sure.

  9. Melvin says:

    I have a MFC-L2710DW
None of these methods let me use the old chip from my original toner cartridge.
Do you have suggestions for this Brother Printer?

    1. Easyink Support says:

      Hi Melvin

Sorry I can’t help with your model. The MFCL2710DW is not a New Zealand based model and unfortunately I don’t have any info on it.

  10. Jeff says:

Your solution worked perfectly for my MFC-L2700DW
How do I know now how many further copies can be obtained from the current toner cartridge please?

  11. Radu says:

I had replaced the toner with a new one and then I found this page. I re-installed the old “low toner” cartridge, I followed the instructions and IT WORKED !!
    Thanks a lot !

  12. Joseph says:

For my MFC-L2700DW the above instruction set did not work. I found that after holding OK button down, press “1” key instead and then close cover.

  13. Don M says:

The reset instructions seemed to have worked perfectly on my MFC-2705DW. Printed the Status Page, and the Toner is now at 100%. Thank you. FYI, I bought one of those refill bottles and using this method works great for saving $$$. Print quality is as good as any I have ever seen. Current page count 1181.

    Thanks for the useful info.

  14. Robert says:

You are awesome. It worked great. I’m so pissed at the brother people because they’re stealing from me. I’ve replaced so many cartridges that stop working even though I know there’s toner in there until now, seven or eight years into it, when I thought to look it up on the Internet. Thank you so much for your help.
